Kiss Before Dying, A
Kiss Before Dying, A (1956)

IMDB rating: 6.80

Plot: Bud Corliss is an ambitious college student with big plans for himself and an heiress, Dorothy Kingship. But then Dorothy goes and gets herself pregnant. It’s his child, too, of course; but this ruins everything. Her moralistic father will disown her and will certainly never accept him. It seems he’s trapped. Bud’s mother knows something is troubling her son, but he won’t talk to her about it. All she knows is that Bud doesn’t want to turn out like his father, with holes in his shoes. He doesn’t have to worry. As his mother says, when he turns his mind to something, he does it. Unknown to her, his thoughts have turned to murder.

I think I'm being discriminated against…what do I do?
So, when I first started in this department, my bosses actually solicited me away from my original department (which is against company policy anyways…). They always tell me how wonderful I am, how helpful I am, etc…you know…they always kiss my behind.

They promoted someone in the department and it didn’t make sense to me. The woman they promoted doesn’t know half of what I do, doesn’t do even 1/8th of the work I do, can’t use a computer, etc. So I asked since my manager had told me once, verbally, that they want to promote me and they want to do all this stuff for me.

I asked, "I don’t get it. You tell me all these wonderful things, you always come to me to save the day, and even telling me what you had told me before, I just don’t understand." My intent was to understand really and not cause trouble. If someone who isn’t qualified gets a promotion, what do I need to do?

First, she said, "F$@# you", then she called me an ungrateful little b!+@#. She told me that I thought waaaayyyyyy too much of myself and that she was sick of it and sick of me. She called me a fake and (here’s the kicker), she then told me that she’s only been pretending to like me since she brought me on board. She then told me to do whatever I had to do and called me an @$$hole.

Now, since this exchange happened over FB, she blocked me after her reply so I couldn’t reply. I deleted the message shrugging it off to mental illness.

Now, she won’t even say hello to me at work even though everyone else does in the morning, she took away my overtime, and all around is being quite nasty.

Our company said that whatever happens off company time isn’t their problem. That’s fair and I totally respect that…however…knowing what I know now, my everyday work life is totally affected.

I’m in a she said/she said situation. What do I do? Should I speak with an HR professional at my job?

To add to it, ever since her mother died, she’s been exhibiting classic depressive behavior. How do I know? It’s like looking in a mirror. When I was suicidal, I acted like that. She’s been lashing out at people and saying that no one deserves anything, etc.

Now, I’m not mad…miffed but not mad. Honestly, the woman is depressed and it’s only getting worse, so I’m sure the events that transpired were depressive acts…nothing more, nothing less.

The funnier part is if you talk to my therapist, she would tell you that I don’t think much of myself at all.

Now, I know she doesn’t like me and in general, she’s a homophobic anti-semite. I am a gay Jew. Oddly enough, every single person who has gotten a promotion has been a straight, Christian female.

I was thinking of laying it all out on Monday with an HR professional since a lot of my friends here who are involved in the legal field tell me that I could have a super duper case against her. Discrimination, harassment, and creation of a hostile work environment.

What do I do?
@Johnny Derp – Why did you answer if you didn’t read it? Seriously, that’s just illogical.

Call your attorney. If you do not have an attorney, use the local lawyer referral service or the one at your state’s bar association website.

Unless you can show a clear link between her actions and your ethnic.religious and or sexual stauts, you have no sort of discrimination suit to file.

Your company has not duty to hire, fire, or promote based on any particular basis. They don’t HAVE to be fair. Nor do they have to be fair in overtime or any other work decisions.

It sounds to me like you got into an off site argument with your supervisor, and any repercussions of that are at least partally your own fault.
