Which of these books should I read this weekend?
I haven’t read a book merely for pleasure in AGES (oh AP Literature… what you put me through =P), and I now have a 4-day weekend at my fingertips. I want something that I don’t have to heavily analyze, but still demonstrates some level of intellect. I’m trying to decide between the following:
"The Satanic Verses" — Salman Rushdie
"Flashman in the Great Game" — George MacDonald Fraser
"Everything is Illuminated" — Jonathan Safran Foer (loved the movie)
"The Importance of Being Earnest" — Oscar Wilde
"Siddhartha" — Hermann Hesse
"Empress" — Shan Sa
"Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal" — Christopher Moore
Everything is Illuminated

I loved Siddhartha. Not too long but really makes you think.

The Importance of Being Earnest is excellent and hilarious. I would definitely recommend it. I’ve not personally read any of the others on your list, but The Satanic Verses and Lamb are both on my to-read list.
