Why does Nero from Star Trek look different from other Romulans?
In all of the other star trek TV shows, the romulans look mostly the same- but Nero looks way different. Why is this? The only thing I noticed that look the same are the romulans in Star Trek Insurrection- Is he like them?
From Memory Alpha: "Due to their shared ancestry, Vulcans and Romulans possessed very similar physiology. (...) Most Romulans had two brow ridges above the bridge of their nose, forming a V-shape on the forehead. However, a minority of Romulans lack these ridges, making them outwardly indistinguishable from Vulcans."
In the prequel comic Star Trek: Countdown, an explanation is given for the tattoos on Nero and his crew: "There was a tradition on Romulus that when a loved one died you would paint your grief upon your skin. Ancient symbols of love and loss. In time the paint would fade, and with it the period of mourning. Life would go on. We paint these symbols on our skin now. But we burn them deep. So that they will never fade. Because life does not go on. We died with our friends. We died with our families. We died with Romulus. And all that is left is revenge."

I suppose they wanted Nero to look different and to not just blend in because he's the bad guy and everybody has to know who the bad guy of the movie is... as time went on and the effects got better the aliens all started looking different (check out the Original Series' Klingons and compare them to how they look on all the other series) I guess since Insurrection came right before the new movie and is therefore it's closest living relative they're going to look more alike than Romulans from any other show/movie because there's not a huge make-up/effects gap between them.

Were there any Romulans in the ST Insurrection movie? I remember the Romulans from The Original Star Trek series, and from Star Trek the Next Generation series. And the Romulans were much fiercer looking in TNG. They had more grooves in their faces and protruding foreheads, and a more deadly threatening demeanour, and quite frankly were more interesting and well developed within the plot than the original Star Trek Romulans. Especially the Tasha story for instance.
Nero looked like a guy with Tattoos, really peeved off mind you, but not the Romulans from any of the series, so you're right on in your observation in my opinion.

Also most of the Romulans we have seen before have been Military, and Nero and his ships crew were just civilian miners as he said out making an honest living. I would guess that before Spock messed up Romulus and Remus Nero and his guys may have been pretty normal and decent folk.

What does it mean when people hang empty glass bottles in a tree?
I've seen this in two movies now, "Because of Winn Dixie" and "The Princess and the Frog." I have a feeling it is probably something like a superstition in the South. However, I'm not sure, and I'm extremely curious. So, does anyone know? =]

The bottle tree was started in the deep south, mostly carried out by African Americans. Not sure what it meant to them but think it was a method of decorating a piece of their yard. Its still done in some locations, but not with the same meaning. Done more for nostalgia

What movie that hasn't had a DVD release yet would you like to see get one?
Any movie that you would like to see get released to DVD or blu-ray that haven't yet? For me it's Hide And Go Shriek, a slasher movie from the 80's that I've never seen but want to. Also, I think Halloween II from 1981 should get a special edition.
Made in Heaven (1987) with Timothy Hutton and Kelly McGillis. I love this movie SO much, and my old VHS copy is wearing out. I have searched for it on DVD to no avail.

Does anybody know the name of this book?
I read this book a while ago about a woman and man who had a child that came out as like a demon-thing. The dad loved it but it made the mom sick. She left, but the husband followed years later (as he had a traveling carnival) and found she had a new family and all, and the "son" was a murderer. He disemboweled this boy. Sorry if the details are a bit all over the place, but I can't remember the author or the book and it's driving me crazy!

well, I don't really know what to do.
I like one guy, but he's a bit shy you know. but once he texted me on-line and we'd talked like for an hour and I liked our chat. but yesterday (two days after our first chat) I sent him a msg and he replied, but then... nothing. it was like "hi how r u" "thanks I'm fine u?" nothing serious.
I don't know the reason why he suddenly signed out, but I don't wanna be a stalker or a clingy girl and at the other hand I'm so interested in him, I don't wanna miss the chance and I don't want him to think that I don't care. it's like finding a balance between two different sides.
what do you think I should do? is it okay to start every single conversation by myself?

Pocahontas vs Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World?
for me i think Disney should have just left Pocahontas as is i loved the romance between John Smith and her! and then they killed it in the second movie. i know they did it to make the movie more historical and stuff but still i loved the first movie a lot more.

mamma mia would be a great movie to show them, i went with my nan to see the movie and she absolutely loved it!

The only problem with Mamma Mia, is that one of the main plot lines is that the mother isn't sure which of the three men is the father of her child. It's a wonderfully happy and go lucky musical and there's absolutely no raunchy-ness in it, but I don't know how religious those people are. Some have a problem with what it obviously pre-marital sex.
Other than that, it's a great move. All the songs are ABBA songs, so some of your viewers will be able to relate to songs they grew up listening to. Which is always fun. Like their own version of 'Glee.'
