Christmas at Air Force Basic?
I know similar questions have been asked a thousand times on here, but I'm not worried about what you do or eat. I know you don't get to come home but my dad is coming to San Antonio on Christmas day. He says he's coming no matter what even if they won't let me see him, just so i'll know that family is close by. I hear that on thanksgiving some are allowed to eat dinner with a family off base, and I wanted to know if I would be able to do ANYTHING similar. I leave December 15 so it will be at the end of week one because of processing.

I will be there over Christmas also & was wondering the same thing! But I have no idea! sorry

I was there 2 years ago on Christmas. We were not allowed to go anywhere, but we were allowed to call our families. There was no PT that day, and no scheduled classes or appointments. It is a pretty laxed day. You will spend the day in the barracks BS-ing. Don't expect to have base liberty or anything. Just enjoy your day off in the barracks. It is not so bad. The TI will barely be there.

There won't be any training on Christmas Day. You'll be allowed to attend church. You may not get an off base pass at week one. Which is unfortunate because Riverwalk is beautiful during the holidays. Make your plans around church service. Find out service time and have your father meet you there. He can get a pass to get on base at the front gate.

I went to AF basic on Dec 19th, 2006. On Christmas day, we had some activities but nobody was allowed to go off base or have base pass. My TI was not even there all day, but we did have a list of stuff we had to do such as clean the bays. The chapel that trainees go to is off limits to anyone who is not a trainee so I don't think your dad will be able to meet you there, nor will he be able to get a base pass until your graduation week that you will have to send home to him.
