The Draconian Conundrum?
This is a little short story I did for fun...Enjoy! BTW: This is copy-righted. Please don't steal this.

Dracia Camblla placed her head through the bars of the cage, letting her hands feel their ways toward her face. Her chestnut-brown hair was entangled with twigs and leaves, and her emerald eyes, which were now a misty green, searched for nothing as the busy people of Trytee bustled about. It was a strange environment for her; she never had stepped foot outside her home before, and now here she was, locked in a cage somewhere.

She was blind, yes, but she saw things people have never seen, and never will see by the rate of their technological progress. She saw dragons breathing putrid fire on a castle top, brave knights in their armor searching for their beloved, princesses of fairy tales with long, blonde hair and blue eyes. She heard the wisp of the wind as it sailed across great plains, a woman singing an old ballad from the days of yore, the silence before a storm. What she saw was beauty in its own master design, never ceasing to create such wonders the world had forgotten over time.

She still held her imagination firm even though she was kidnapped by a mysterious man. It was was of keeping her sanity, if that makes any sense. In order to survive and not think the worst of her given situation, she imagined she was somewhere far away where there were no people so cruel like her captor. Her captor....it sounded so foreign to her. In all her studies, she never has heard of a man kidnapping a little girl. Maybe it was for her own protection, like many other things such as reading and writing.

So, here Dracia, or as she likes to be called, Draci, was, sitting in her cage when she heard a voice call out a greeting. "Hail, Turget!" It was a man, and a pretty young one at that. His voice was strong, demanding, yet at the same time subjective to other voices. He had a sense of urgency to his pace, making a straight beeline for the captor who was presumably named Turget.

Turget raised his hand in the sign of a formal greeting, "May the Draconian Fire blaze in your heart."

"And yours."

Draci cocked her head in question; what is the Draconian Fire, and who is the mysterious man? Paying no heed to the girl, Turget continued on, "So..what'll it be?" He tugged on his short beard as if in thought, and tapped his foot in time with the music playing in the background. "The Dracia Waltz..." he murmured, recognizing the tune.

The customer walked around the cage, noting all the flaws and perfections of Draci mentally. After a few minutes of deep consideration, he straightened up, smoothing his jacket, and said, "I'd say 40 shackles. Nothing more."

Turget cursed under his breath; he knew there was no chance in bargaining, the customer knew what he wanted and wouldn't back down. "Oh, fine." He reluctantly agreed, shaking hands with the customer, who grinned mischeviously in satifaction.

A sudden jerk from the cage left Draci sprawling across the small area, and she could tell by the heavy breathing and grunting that some men were attempting to move the cage.CLICK! The caged prisoner heard the opening to the cage pop open, and before she knew what she was doing, Dracia dived out of there and sprinted to the nearest exit away from the men.

"Stop her!" she heard a voice screaming from across the room.

Before she had time to cross through the doorway, thick, strong arms wrapped around her waist and carried her away. The person who was carrying her was heading upstairs, she could tell, and was gaining speed as well as ground away from the crowd of people who screamed after them.
Grrr...dumb auto-correct thought that a word I put in there was innapropriate, and bloakced it out.

hmm its good, the word draconian reminds me of tracy hickman's dragonlance saga, so i can imagine this story very well, i like your description of the girl and everything
you have a good work here, keep it up !

How do I charge my Eclipse 180 mp3 player?
The manual state that all you have to do is turn the unit on and plug it into my computer's usb port. However, I have done this several times and it doesn't charge. I just bought this device and it has received no trauma or ill-treatment since it has came out of the package. This is the 180BL 8GB version. Also, if anybody has any insight into this situation; does anybody know if there are any different firmware versions available anywhere? This thing was terrible to figure out, and takes some time to maneuver in.

Do birth control pills help cravings and control eating during period?
I'm an avid healthy eater, but I get CRAZY during my period. Multiple bowls of cereal, ice cream, chocolate, cake, etc! I crave these things only during my period. Will being put on birth control help?

Perhaps.. some birth controls can help alleviate problems with your period. I know they can make your period lighter and shorter and clear up acne.
So I would think it might help with cravings and such during your period but I'm just speculating and don't know for sure. You might try posting this question in a different section too. If I were you I would at least try it out! And give it a few months before deciding if it helps or not.

There is no yes or no answer. Since all of our bodies are different and adjust to medication differently. Ask you doctor they will be the best source.
Shadow | Jan 15, 2010

Probably not - you take a placebo, a sugar pill, for every day you are on your period. You only get an actual pill when you're off your period, and even then it's just hormones, which may make you eat less or more depending on how it effects you - but it will effect you when you are NOT on your period instead of when you are on it.

my boyfriend thinks he is possessed.?
he is very dramatic sometimes, and we watched the movie 'antichrist' last night. i could tell it really perturbed him and this morning when i woke up to go to work he was like, "i had spasms in my sleep last night." he said his body was twisting over and over itself, and his legs kicking. i'm not too sure but i'm an extremely heavy sleeper so it's definitely possible i'd sleep through it. he also said that a few times he woke up in the bathroom, in front of the sink, with the water running. he woke up every hour, on the hour at :46 in. he hasn't really quite slept yet, but when i got home from work i admit i was very skeptical (who wouldn't be?) however we went to the gas station and he went in to get cigarettes, and he said the old guy was outside smoking a cigarette and then he threw it into one of those tall cigarette disposals (with the big round bottom). when my boyfriend came out he said it was on fire. i didn't believe this, but when i drove around the gas station and saw it, it certainly was on fire and the old man was trying to put it out. on the way home there is a church, and my boyfriend asked me to stop there. i did, and he went up and tried to knock on the doors. after a bit he went around the side into the dark by the woods, and then came back to my car. he asked me to shut it off, and i did. he said, "listen." and there was yelling. in the woods. so after he went back around the side of the church to try and locate the source, we left. on the way home the radio was static, all static, so i turned it down. he looked completely dazed and turned it back up. when we got onto my road he began to speak, so i turned it back down. he asked if my radio turned off and i told him "yes, but i like the light. just not the static." he then replied, "i don't like the static either." when we got back to my house there was a fly crawling up the side of my bed, which he very easily caught in a napkin and disposed of, with a comment on "manifestation of insects." he won't let me touch him really and he's been very distant. he won't go near my cats or dog, and he drew all over his wrist, including a crossed out 3 (the holy trinity) that he claims not to remember doing. like i said i am a skeptic, but it was a bit unsettling to see that fire followed by the yells from the woods, and i'd just like to get a second opinion. does this sound like a legitimate possession? and if so, what can be done about it? i turned on my webcam for the night so if he is really doing these things, i will know tomorrow.

He most likely has some form of mental disorder, especially if he actually believes in demon possession.
Jim | Feb 07, 2010

Girl I wouldnt even associate with someone who would even PLAY like that.. Kick his ass out. Maybe living at moms will drive the demon out.
Sheak | Feb 07, 2010

I am very doubtful if your boyfriend is "Possessed" .

I believe that he has just became overly obsessed with the movie and his mind and imagination are playing games or nightmares with him .... maybe even causing him to sleepwalk ...

Take a cross or crucifix and place it on his forehead .. while saying the Lord's Prayer ... IF he can withstand that; he is NOT "Possessed" ....
HIGH SHAMAN | Feb 07, 2010

some type of mental disorder seems the most likely thing here.
if you love him, and if you want your relationship to work, get him to a physician to talk about these things.
\
Red Atheist | Feb 07, 2010

No, it sounds like he was spooked by a movie and didn't sleep well. And then he happend to see a bin on fire and you heard some people shouting near some woods. He's just being paranoid. A fly doesn't count as "manifestation of insects".

Watch some lighter movies, wait a few days, and don't encourage his paranoia.
Corey | Feb 07, 2010

wow thats creepy. go to your church or a church near you- preferably nondenominational bc they could probably deal with this bc they arent a set denomination. and ask to be seen, tell them what has gone on and they will see if he is possessed or not and if he is they could probably help yall. the only way he can't be possessed is if he is a Christian bc demons can't possess people who already have Jesus in their hearts.
Callan Y | Feb 07, 2010

Even if he does "do those things" such as stand in front of the bathroom mirror, it doesn't in any way suggest he's possessed by any demons. Good luck with all that.

When I visit the beach and splash around in the ocean wave, my boobs always start to hurt, but they never hurt any other times. I'm around the age of 12 and haven't gotten my period yet, so that doesn't have anything to with it... does it? Anyways, tell me what you can and ask me any questions you have.

Senior at work always ridicules me!?
Hi there,

I am with an Organisation. And often feels very intimidated by my senior lady collegue. She always puts me down and ridicules me.

I observed the situation why she does it- and found that she feels I am not producing results at work and does this to push me.

I know that i should not take it personally, but however she has this bad habit of telling things about me to others. So, all other collegues below also 'shows faces' at me. Hence I feel very upset and ridiculed.

At times, i really wish like telling her off on the face=- 'Hey just mind your bloody business and stop pushing people around'! But fear of hurting her/ loosing my job as this my ricebowl.

How to tell her nicely/ act accordingly to reduce this tensions.

I am here for the past 11 months and always feel this!

Thanks!

Does she hold a position higher than you, if not then ask the manager to get her to mind her own business, because unless you are not meeting minimum quotas, then she has nothing to complain about. As she is making the work place hostile for you.

"At your age it'd be pretty easy to break a hip. A simple trip, maybe an 'accidental' trip down the stairs. That'd be terrible. Just terrible. Why your life would be over wouldn't it? Sure wish nothing like that ever happens. Just sayin' ".
Chase | Feb 05, 2010

Just be the best you can be at your job. Keep an eye out for the things she does wrong and don't hesitate to let her know the things that she does wrong. Use your youth to your advantage. Tease her about being an old lady but in a cute way. Like, asking her if you could help her carry something because of her age she might not be able to handle it. Anything you can find on her just bring it up in a teasing way. See how she likes it. If she says something to you just remind her that she does the same thing to you. Then maybe you two can come to some type or agreement. You have to embarrass her in order for her to know how it feels. Always do it in a kidding way and make sure someone is there to hear you so she can't blame you for something you did not do.

Maybe you are getting it mixed up with "constructive criticism"!! In our day we listened to our elders!! That's why we are so "wise"!!LOL!!!! I hated the woman that broke me in when I worked at the BIA because she was so strict. I was young then and when I moved on to other jobs her teaching came in handy. I could write a business letter and do accounting like nobody's business!! Listen to her and maybe she will let up on you, she is trying to help you!!!

no contact rule...will he eventually realise hes made a mistake...will he come to me if he wants me that much?
i said goodbye to my four year relationship on tuesday..... i wanted to make it right but he just gave in after leading me on for 2 weeks thinking we would get back together... in that time we were getting along great.
basically we really fell out at new year...i fell out with all his family..and tried to just delete them all out of my life....he contacted me after 2 weeks and i let him back in...we were getting on great considering getting back together everything....when his dad found out he went mad at him making him feel guilty...which made him say to me that it wasnt going to work...almost like an escape route and leaving me broken hearted... eventually i just agreed with it and accepted it...he stil wanted to be friends and talk

I said NO.....AND that i wasnt going to be there anymore...and i told him to just remember me.
I havent contacted him since that last ever conversation on tuesday. hes tried calling ONCE of an unknown number

Just want to know...will he realise he made a mistake?

Eventually he will and may try even harder then to get you back. You sound like you still have feelings for him whcih could eventually be a mistake on your part if this relationship was truly meant to be. All relationships go thru adjusting periods in which couples fight and disagree, but its how we handle them that makes the relationship stronger. So think about what you really want here before deleting him out of your life forever and the family thing will take care of itself later. Good luck
Arthur W | Feb 05, 2010

In my own opinion.

Maybe it's not the right time for both of you. If you still ignoring everything he's done to you maybe someday you will also regret what you have done. If he wants to be friends with you. that's Ok its really normal in a relationship to start at friendship.

but still it's all up to you. Only you can make decision for that. Even Us here in Yahoo answers give the answers to your questions its all up to you. =)
Ryan Rich | Feb 05, 2010

You are smart to refuse his friendship. They only say they want to be friends so they can ease their own guilt, keep you around as a fall back option, then dump you as a 'friend' as soon as they find someone else. Good move.

Don't initiate contact, and if he contacts you, be cordial and polite. Being the girl he fell in love with will make him realise he made a mistake, but whether he acts upon it or not is another thing. Only time will tell. Hang in there, be strong, use this opportunity to work on yourself, and you can't go wrong.

Parents What is wrong with me?
I feel drained, and tired.

I feel like my 5 year old needs something that I can't give her.

I have been through it all, the tantrums and everything and I have hung right in there and have raised a good kid so far.

But now I just feel drained, like I don't want to do it anymore.

It's hard because my emotions influence her and she expects me to walk around the house all day with a smile plastered on my face. In reality, that's not me, at least for right now. She knows me too well and it pains me that I can't mask whatever I am feeling from her.

I worry, I feel a bit sad like something is missing, I don' know what it is.

I can see my sadness in her eyes. I often feel like I have to compete with my mother to keep my daughter's attention, and I am done with that.

It's almost like I don't care anymore.

I am 23, I live at home. no good job, no friends, no boyfriend. College student with no life . My kid stays at home with me all day. I do everything for her. I love her.+

Why is this? What could be wrong?

You could be suffering from depression or a thyroid problem. see a doctor to rule out the thyroid problem. hope i helped

It could be a form of depression and or just simply overwhelmed! Being a student and a mom is a lot of work, especially if you rarely get breaks. See a doctor to confirm there isn't something else going on. It could simply be you need 72 hours of "me" time. Good luck! Hope it helps and you find peace and joy soon!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder,if you feel this way you need to go out once in a while and get away for a little time to yourself, not a drinking binge, just a get away.Getting a job really helps to,if I am around my kids all the time, even my wife, then I start geting those same feelings, but if you can get away, even for a little while it gives you something to talk about and really helps your realtionship.
klr_kevin | Feb 06, 2010

One thing I think you are doing right is reaching for help.

Having a young child is a strange kind of work because although you can not go anywhere or do anything without feeling guilty you are not a five year old so playing with your daughter all day is not fun. As a college student you are busy with school work and probably don't have a chance to meet many other moms or men who want someone who can't go out at the drop of a hat. There are moments when you are with your kids (in your case, child) where you feel so much love it hurts but that high lasts only so long before you are dropped down low. I was a single mom at 23 with two boys and I remember it well. Talk about emotional. There is something almost crazy about being responsible and caring so much while having nothing really to do. My suggestions are to go out of your way to meet other parents, preferably single moms or dads. This is an important step in that it allows for your daughter to have playmates while you get to be an adult and realize that all moms are going through similar emotional roller coasters. I know it feels like things will never change but they do. I am now married and have four boys(16, 13, 12 and 10) and even crave those days when I felt so alone. Now I can't enter a room without stepping on some random teenager or hollering at my youngest to stop grabbing at his crotch (he thinks he's Micheal Jackson).

I wouldn't rule out a thyroid problem either. Actually, you should probably look that up and see if you have any of the other symptoms associated with hyper or hypo thyroidism. I'm sure you can find plenty of things on the web to help you diagnose yourself, or scare you into thinking your a lost cause. Be careful what you read!

And don't beat yourself up for being human! Remember that you are a role model for your daughter and I'm sure that if she told you years from now that she was having a similar problem to the one you are describing you would want her to relax and be happy. It's okay to wonder about your life and the direction it's going just remember you are always in control so try to do it with intention and enjoy it!!

Also, and this will sound ridiculous I'm sure, eat healthy. Often when we are in a funk we stop taking care of ourselves and that just makes it way harder to think clearly or feel good about ourselves. No joke.

Please know that you are not alone. And you are stronger than many by being willing to write so beautifully about how you are feeling. Now just use that strength to make a plan to find yourself, your daughter at your side!

And if all else fails... go dancing!! Just sneak off on your own leaving your mom in charge and dance your ass off! If you don't drink and find somewhere with no cover charge its free fun and you will get a good work out!

Good luck, my love to you and your daughter!

See a doctor. Get checked for the thyroid function as well as a depression test. I suffered from bad depression just after my third child was born and felt just exactly how you described. My parents would take the two older children (2 and 3 1/2 at the time) for the weekend so I could have some timeout. It was months before I actually looked forward to them being brought back. Most times I felt I wasn't ready to have them come home yet and wished the weekends went for longer.

They are teenagers now, and I have a new 4 month old who is the apple of everyone's eye....and absolutely no sign of the depression that I suffered with the others.

You need to act on this quickly. That 'don't care' feeling is dangerous. I didn't even bother looking before I crossed the road when I was like that because I just didn't care.

I hope it all turns out well for you.
