Young Guns II
|
IMDB rating: 5.80 Plot: The movie begins with the aging Brushy Bill Roberts narrating his story to a young historian. His claim? He claims that he is the famous outlaw William H. Bonney, alias Billy the Kid, who was supposedly shot and killed by Patrick Floyd Garrett in 1881. The old man gives a very convincing story on how he and Garrett, along with Arkansas Dave Rudabaugh, Chavez y Chavez, Doc Skurlock, and a few others led the outlaw life and avoided the law, as they were wanted men. Garrett, a friend of Billy’s, was paid by John Chisum, a cattle king, to eliminate Billy the Kid. So, Garrett and Ashmun Upson set out on a journey to find Billy the Kid. |

How can the Celtics rebuild [Part 3]?
In the previous 2 articles of the same title [Parts 1 & 2], the responses were pretty much against breaking-up half of the current Celtic roster.
This is totally understandable if you’re a true Celtic fan because it is indeed a "panic mode" & that you don’t break up a champiopnship team after one unsuccessful post-season, it will surely make the organization look bad & unclassy to panic suddenly.
But being also a true Celtic fan, you only have to look back at what happened towards the end of Bird’s era where the C’s hanged-on to their aging Big 3 when they had the opportunity to trade 1 or 2 of them for younger blood in order to stay competetive. (Ainge for sure knows about this very well!)
What happened next was 21 years of waste while the rival Lakers racked-up more championships getting ever so dangerously close to the Celts number of banners.
Indeed, it is very hard to let go that even the late Red Auerbach defended the decision to hang-on to the aging unit ala "that’s how you treat & reward your troops who has been so loyal to you throughout the years."
Still, the outcome was 21 years of mediocrity while the Lakers kept getting close.
You see, in life, one has to make painful, unpopular, dreadful, & NO CONSCIENCE decisions in order to stay afloat, some sacrifices has to be made. But being overtly sentimental will SLOWLY sink you which in the C’s case, the aging unit kept being competetive, but were slowly exiting early in the playoffs as the late 80’s to the early 90’s progressed.
But look at the Lakers organization, they have NO CONSCIENCE with unloading some of their most loyal players over the years (Norm Nixon, Jamaal Wilkes, Kurt Rambis, Shaq, to name a few.) But it’s what ultimately kept them successful over the years!
You see, there’s always two ways to look at life. In this case, you can question the character of the organization – rewarding the troops loyalty [the Celts] versus unloading even your most loyal troops [L.A. style] but we also have to adress it the other way around which is what most people miss.
Meaning, loyalty is not only a one-way street. In the Lakers case, it was their players who were truly loyal to the organization that they were willing to take the SACRIFICE of being let go for the eventual good of the organization, yet still came back & were ultimately rewarded for their sacrifice.
In Derek Fisher’s case, he came back after he wasn’t given a contract extension at the end of 2004 but look where he & the Lakers are at now? Same with Rambis, he’s now an assistant coach & part of the recent Lakers success. I bet Shaq will finish his career with L.A. after next season & most likely, on a winning note – win a championship with the young guns of L.A. (And so on & so forth.)
You see, in life, people tends to get mad at the employers when we feel like they’re not rewarding us with all our loyalty & hardwork over the years.
But we also have to remember that it’s really a 2-way street ala JFK’s "don’t ask what your country (your organization) can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country (your organization)."
Now if you really enjoy success, then ask what you can do for your organization to keep that success going. (Hear me Ray Allen?)
And indeed, it has to be Ray unfortunately [as stated in Part I] because no other organization will take Pierce or KG’s huge contracts that still has some years left unlike Ray’s expiring contract. (It is indeed unfortunate coz Ray’s so likable being humble & nice with clutch outside shooting.)
But Ray can always comeback [after next season] with a stronger, better Celtics & win more rings if he does gets traded this off-season which will enable the C’s to get a player like Boozer in replacement, as stated in Part I & II.
How will it work? Well, we have to remember that next year’s free agency is loaded with talent! (Forget Kobe & LeBron, they will surely sign with their respective teams given the success they’re having with now.)
Of course, a lot of teams would like to get in the mix with the other free agent talents outside Kobe & LeBron (Wade & Bosh to name a few) & so, they would like to get an expiring contract yet still remain competetive next year. That’s where Ray Allen fits in.
Of course, you have to make the numbers work (aka the salaries match). And so, it has to be a 3 or 4 team deal whereby Utah for sure wouldn’t want to loose Boozer for nothing & so, they sign & trade him to the C’s, Allen goes say, to the Clips who would want to be in the mix for next year’s free agency by unloading Baron Davis & Kris Kaman to Utah. (The numbers works with Utah getting something in return which is better than nothing.)
Of course, this is just an example as Utah won’t really need Baron & Kaman yet the Clips tried this with Dallas in order to free money for next year’s free agency. (Dallas said no.)
But that is just an example on how to move Allen via a 3-te
Hm,it’s really tough for you as a Celtics fan because the Lakers all almost on the top but you guys can rubild if you trade someone of your big 3,like trade Allen for something good. You can’t trade KG,the hearth of the defense,Pierce will remain Celtics for live
Thsi is very hard call but the Celtics will seal this out because they did it in 2008 when they got Garnett and Allen, now they can do it again
