Does anyone go through this while TTC?
This might be a stupid question, I don’t know.. I’ve been TTC with my Husband for awhile. We’re still not pregnant yet, and we cannot wait to have children. We’ve been married 3 years already. (which isn’t too long, but not too little either.) I’ve always wanted to become a mommy, and my Husband adores children. But we’re also scared/nervous/afraid? Because we know we won’t have our ‘alone with each other’ time like we used to. It’s just a huge step. Is it OK to miss that? Is it OK to miss your quiet nights and good-nights sleeps? lol. Is it OK to miss just being a couple? Is it also OK to worry about how your children and pets will get along? I adore my cats and I’m so worried that they’ll go insane and hate me and go into hiding forever, lol. There’s no doubt that I still want a baby, I’m not a selfish person I’m willing to give up whatever I have to, but I just want to know if anyone else feels this way too. Is this all normal? lol. Sorry I’m just wondering. Any comforting thoughts or stories?

A week before I gave birth I was crying and crying because I realised it wasn’t going to be just my partner and I anymore, I was TTC for 2 years so it was very happy I was pregnant but I just realised that we just wont be able to do much together just us anymore.

Anyway of course it is ok to miss just being a couple!! & I think it is really important that when you have a baby you try and do stuff just together because I know sometimes my partner and I don’t and it can be sad at times but we are very happy overall and we do do stuff still & it is fun. It’s ok to worry about everything you are worrying about…

On another note, sleepless nights don’t happen to everyone ( I was extremely lucky & you could be too) & when you are waking up and seeing your baby it doesnt seem that bad anyway.
My daughter and my cats are best friends, yes she torments their lives at times but ever since she came home they have acted like a second and third mother, they love her & have from the beginning. I was extremely nervous about my baby having a cat allergy or something :/ but everything was fine

Don’t feel like you have to give up anything having a baby, sure spontaneity goes out the window somewhat but you will have a beautiful baby and love that. You will be able to organise times with your partner and do things together & it’s when you feel like you can’t do things when life becomes overwhelming.

All your thoughts are normal, you sound like you over think a little like me, once the baby comes all the anxiety will hopefully just fly out the window & you, your partner & your cats will hopefully have a great life altogether! Good luck with everything! It will be fine, all is well here with me & I had all those thoughts & now my life is even better than it was before.

My partner and i were also so worried when we had my daughter,she was born almost 3 months early and my DD and I were in hospital for 2.5 months after she was born.So life was definitely hard then.And when we got her home she needed 2 hourly feeds, we were worried things would never settle down! It was hard on each of us but never let it affect us as a couple. Sure enough it got easier. Now there is more fun stuff than bottles and midnight feeds. My DD does everything with us and i cant imagine life without her. We go for "dates" or luxury weekends, and plan to go alone, but never do. We rather spend time as a family then have our time. And in a way family time and our time are the same thing!
My DH and I have been trying for No.2 for 3 years and i feel like im in the same boat even with previous experience. I worry another addition could wreck the good things we have going now.But im sure id answer myself the same way i have to you after No.2!

One piece of advice… No matter how exhausted you are to begin with its not permanent! Also even if you are tired (and you will be) make time for yourself, and make time for each other.

I just completed a short story that i have to write for this English writing competition and i would like to know if their could be any improvements, or if you have any suggestions which could make my story better.

Buckets of rain slapped the sodden pavement of the grimy, dismal alleyway. As the stench of stagnant rainwater filled my nostrils, I took a cautious step forward into the unknown.
Every sound echoed around me, bouncing back and forth off the grubby brick walls, like a ball being batted in a frantic game of squash. The trash littered across the pavement, which made it difficult to navigate.
The walls ran with slime, which covered the long forgotten graffiti brickwork. I placed my hand on to the nearest wall to assist in guiding my path. I shrieked with terror as I felt something damp and hairy. I pulled my hand away only to realize that it was nothing but a lump of moss dampened by the dirty water from the overflowing gutters above.
The sudden brightness blinded me as it appeared out of the vagueness. I strained myself to see what it was. The scream of the revving engine was enough to set me fleeing. Why are some people so incredibly bitter for seemingly no reason?
I have a grandmother like this. I am her grandchild, and grew up with her living with my mom (her daughter) for over 15 years now. My grandmother never had what could be a "stable" job in her life…she screwed around with this lame job and that lame job all of her life. When she got a good job, she quit it rather quickly, oftentimes citing accusations that she couldn’t back up against the person she was working for (a lot of times it was sitting for an old person and she’d make up accusations and lies against them, for instance and say that the lady was "really a man dressed up like a woman" and crazy stuff like that). She’s lived with us all of this time and came off the street (she was living in her car) after we lost my father and there was room for another person.

My grandmother was diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic years and years ago, by some doctor. She has extreme, extreme, extreme anxiety…for seemingly the simplest things. She watches my mom leave for work and to go other places, as if watching for a 10 year old to go to/come home from school or something. She’s done nothing but make up lies against our neighbors and try to start trouble. She hates anyone who is "blessed" in any way. She hates our neighbors so much that she lies and says none of them have running water, gas or lights. Apparently because they have what she could have had herself, but f’ed it away to one of her sons that uses her as a money dispenser and never does anything for her.

I just don’t know what to say about my grandmother. She hates the news people, rants at the tv all day long, slings racial slurs constantly all day long, hears a "guy" that has apparently tormented her in her mind for well over a decade (the said voice threatens family members by name, plays "music/instruments" of some sort, etc…according to her). She has described things like "the ground jumping up and down" if that gives you any clue.

She freaking hates everybody with such a hate that even as an old lady…sometimes her own daughter has wanted to just slap the crap out of her for being so hateful. I’ve never seen a person like my grandmother. She hates her own great grandchild and says hateful things about her own family, and has stood against the very daughter who has helped her all of these years. It is very evident to me that she’s doing all of this hatred willfully…she knows what she’s doing and saying, and is clearly able to take care of herself mentally (though "off" in other issues like the paranoia, hearing voices, etc.) She’s so miserable daily that none of my family members want to be around her…she refuses to go into any sort of high rise or home, and refuses to live with the son that uses her for money. Yet she upholds him as a god.

I know that she’s had some "traumatic" experiences in her childhood and such…but I am serious when I say I have never seen a lady this full of hate in my life. I’ve had some "traumatic" experiences, myself…my father blew his head off in the other room when I was very young (he had mental issues, as well…thought ‘aliens’ were tormenting him physically). But I do not use that traumatic experience as an excuse to not keep a job, not meet friends, not be happy and feel blessed for what I DO have in life, etc. She hates and grudges everyone. She was once homeless…my mom has given her a place to stay. She sits around railing about how sorry homeless people are. I am her grandchild and barely speak to her, because she has this envy grudge against me as well (for having a job and simply helping my mom over the years…to me, that’s what I should have done without some old woman grudging me for it…it’s the right thing I feel to do for my mom).

How do I fix my relationship with my dad?
Lets see here, I am 19 and my dad is 46. We had a really good relationship up until I was about 10, then things started to go down. It didn’t go down fast at first, the big increase probably started around 12 when my mother died. In 7th grade my dad kicked me out and I lived with my grandparents (motherside) for about half the year, then I got to move back in. One of the problems we have is trust, I can’t trust him with anything, cause as soon as I tell him, everyone knows. I’ll even say, Dad, please don’t tell anyone about this. He says, ok, then I tell him and he tells people. I wanna say at the end of 16 going on 17 me and my dad started to make noticeable progress. Then he gets remarried, now I don’t have a problem with this as long as it makes him happy. Except for the fact that his new wife treats me like crap. She puts her girls over me and my brother. Ok, understandable, they are her daughters but she gets my dad to do the same thing. She controls my dad, she didn’t like our dog, so she told my dad it had to stay outside even when it was like blizzarding outside. When we went on a vacation to Deytona, Florida she convinced my dad to send me on bus ride home all the way back to IN.She did that by convincing him that I was trying to sneak out to a club, when I wasn’t even really capable of doing so. So when I was 17 she convinced him to kick me out and I ended up living with my sister. Well, now I am in the Air Force, making a living, making something good out of something bad. I spend thousands of dollars traveling back home to try and fix things with him and each time I come back, she gets in the way. Came back for highschool graduation ceremony, she gets him to flip out at me for using the restroom in their house when I came by to pick up my luggage cause the airport lost it. Thanksgiving, we are going to take a family picture, the whole family is there, I have to leave in 10 min. to go spend time with my gf family. I let my dad know but he said we had to wait for a friend to come so he could be in picture too. I told him that I had to go in 10 min and that we would need to take it before then or I wouldn’t be in it. Well, I wasn’t in it cause we were waiting for a non family member to come for our family picture! Then Christmas, he has all these days off, you’d think he would set up times for us to spend some time together, after all I’ve spent thousands of dollars traveling up there…nope. One time we went out to Chipotle, I tried to tell him how I felt and I didn’t feel he was trying to have a relationship with me, his response was to deny that, to deny how I felt and say my feelings were wrong and he was trying. What should I do? Do I give up? He says he wants a relationship, but I don’t see it or feel it. Should I just try to buddies with him? Does that mean we have to have stuff in common? I just really want a father figure and I don’t know how to one.

You need to tell your father how your mother’s death really took a toll in your relationship to begin with. Your biggest issue is trust. You are the only one you have to trust, the only parent he has left, and if you can’t trust him, you’re better off without him in your life as a father and guardian. All you’ve ever wanted is his happiness even if that meant kissing your sanity goodbye by re-marrying. Point out all these things you wrote here to him, theses especific times you’ve felt he did you wrong (and that witch he married). He needs to be your audience. He needs to be the one giving you these answers. His wife migh be everything to him, but remind him of your mother. Out of respect to your mother, he should not let his new wife get in the way of your relationship with him. You’ve been supportive of his decisions and he should be supportive of wanting to change things with him and make them better. It is selfish and cruel how he doesn’t seem to care about you or making things better with you and he can’t deny it. You just cannot ignore this. You dont have to have stuff in common but you are his son and that you will always have in common. He’s a son as well. Keep this friendship open and flexible if you feel you can forgive him, if not, you don’t have to forgive him. If you need a fatherly figure, find it elsewhere. Your grandpa, an older friend, an old folks home… blood-ties mean nothing unless you feel loved, cared for, and that you can trust. Fathers unfortunately tend to deny what hurts most. I don’t quite know why…maybe it’s their defense mechanism but this is ridiculous and it hurts. He’s scared of opening up to you. Maybe he hasn’t quite healed all the way. You are not wrong. Feelings are like opinions: no right or wrong. It’s what u feel.
