November 16th, 2009 by jiayou1224

Irving, TX (Sports Network) – Florida remains atop the latest Bowl Championship Series standings, as the Jordan 11 top eight teams kept their spots from the previous week.
The Gators (10-0) garnered a .9833 average, with that number being computed by averaging the percentage totals of the Harris Interactive poll, USA Today poll and computer rankings.
Alabama (10-0) is second at .9521, followed by Texas (10-0), TCU (10-0) and Cincinnati (10-0).
Boise State (10-0) is the only other remaining unbeaten team in the nation at the FBS level and stayed sixth, followed by Georgia Tech (10-1) and LSU (8-2).
Pittsburgh (9-1), by virtue of its win over Notre Dame Saturday, climbed three spots to No. 9. Ohio State (9-2), which Jordan 12 won the Big Ten’s automatic BCS bowl bid with a victory over Iowa Saturday, jumped one spot to 10th.
There are three weeks left before the final BCS standings are released to determine the participants for the national championship game.
Florida, which has already locked up a trip to the SEC Championship game against Alabama on December 5, beat South Carolina this past Saturday. The Gators host FIU this week before taking on Florida State prior to their big game against the Crimson Tide.
Alabama whacked Mississippi State, 31-3, on Saturday and also figures to have an easy week, as the Tide host Chattanooga before a meeting against Auburn.
The Longhorns, coming off a 47-14 victory at Baylor, has a huge game this Saturday night, hosting Kansas. Texas then plays Texas A&M Thanksgiving night before presumably taking part in the Big 12 championship game.
TCU remained unbeaten with a 55-28 rout of Utah Saturday night in a key Mountain West Conference showdown. The Jordan 13 Horned Frogs, who are looking at taking a second MWC title since making the switch from Conference USA in 2005, play at Wyoming before hosting New Mexico to close the season.
The Bearcats held off West Virginia, 24-21, on Friday and don’t play again until the day after Thanksgiving against Illinois before a showdown at Pittsburgh.
Boise State pounded Idaho, 63-25, Saturday to remain unbeaten. The Broncos play at Utah State and then have home games against Nevada and New Mexico State to conclude the season.

Verizon’s Droid Launch: Your Complete Guide

November 6th, 2009 by jiayou1224

Can you feel the Ugg Amelie remors? Verizon’s hotly anticipated Motorola Droid finally arrives on Friday, and — if the earth-rumbling ads are to be believed — we’ll be feeling its force all over the world.
All right, so the ads may be a bit exaggerated. Let’s face it, though: This phone is stirring up quite the geek-friendly frenzy. Whether you think it’ll be a mere blip on the radar or you believe it’ll send the iPhone scrambling to a secure bunker, the Droid has definitely become difficult to ignore.
Here’s a quick and easy guide to everything you need to know about Verizon’s Droid and its November 6 launch.
Verizon’s Droid: The Basics
• Verizon’s Motorola Droid is 4.56 by 2.36 inches and weighs just under 6 ounces.
• The phone features 3.7-inch, 854-by-480 pixel touchscreen display.
• It has a slide-out QWERTY Silver Jewelry eyboard and a 5-megapixel camera with DVD-quality video recording.
• The Droid utilizes an Arm Cortex 550mHz A8 processor with 256MB of built-in memory. It has a 16GB microSD card and can be expanded to 32GB.
• Running the Android 2.0 operating system, the Droid is capable of multitasking and features unique options such as integrated turn-by-turn GPS navigation.
Verizon’s Droid: The Buying
• The Droid costs $199.99 when bought with a new two-year contract. In most instances, however, you’ll end up paying $299.99 up-front, then getting $100 back via a mail-in rebate.
• If you buy your Droid at Best Buy, you can avoid paying the extra $100 from the mail-in rebate. Best Buy will automatically credit the rebate at the time of your purchase, meaning you’ll pay only $199.99 that day.
• The Droid requires a Verizon voice plan, which runs a minimum of $39.99 for 450 minutes. It also requires an unlimited data plan, which runs an additional $29.99. Text messaging is not included and costs extra to add on.
• Over two years’ time, you’d end up paying essentially the same amount with either an iPhone 3GS or a Verizon Droid. A Palm Pre would end up costing you a good bit less.
• Despite some initial confusion, you will not have to pay extra simply to utilize the Droid’s Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync feature. There is a $15 surcharge only if you have a multiple-line Ugg Boots usiness account.
• Verizon Wireless will open many of its retail stores early Friday morning to accommodate the Droid launch. Some locations will open at 7 or 8 a.m. The flagship Verizon store on 34th Street in New York City will open from midnight to 2 a.m. for an early round of Droid sales. Be sure to call your specific store to check on its hours, as opening times vary from place to place.

October 15th, 2009 by jiayou1224

Father of New York bomb plot suspect is indicted

October 8th, 2009 by jiayou1224

DENVER (Reuters) – The father of an Afghan immigrant accused of plotting one of the most serious security threats to the United States since the September 11 attacks was indicted on Thursday on charges of lying to the FBI, federal prosecutors said.
Mohammed Wali Zazi, 53, had previously been charged by prosecutors with lying to the Federal Bureau of Silver Jewelry Investigation when it was investigating his son, Najibullah Zazi, 24.
The grand jury indictment formally indicts him on essentially the same charge.
The younger Zazi, a Denver airport shuttle driver, was indicted last month by a federal grand jury in New York on charges of plotting to explode bombs in the United States. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
Prosecutors said Zazi took a bomb-making course at an al Qaeda training camp in Pakistan, had notes on how to make explosives on his laptop computer and acquired materials similar to those used in bomb attacks in London in 2005, buying acetone and hydrogen peroxide at beauty supply stores near his home in Colorado.
His father and a New York City imam, Ahmad Wais Afzali, 37, were both charged with lying to investigators.
The FBI has had under surveillance other suspects it believes may have helped Zazi acquire the chemicals and consulted with him on how to make explosives.
Attorney General Eric Holder has called the plot one of the most serious security threats to the United States since the September 11 attacks of 2001, saying it could have killed “scores” of Panodra Beads Americans had it been successful.
Zazi initially was charged in Colorado with lying to the FBI. He was later indicted on the terrorism charge in Brooklyn federal court and transferred to New York on September 25.
The investigation became public several weeks ago when police raided apartments in the New York City borough of Queens that Zazi had visited around the time of the anniversary of the 2001 attacks.
