Am I doing enough for my daughter's birthday?
I don’t have a lot of money so I am not able to do anything too great for my daughter’s 2nd birthday tomorrow. I bought her a new doll , a doll bunkbed, and a doll high chair , which all cost about 70 dollars. I got some pink streamer, a princess table cloth, pink plates , and plastic silverware for decorations. I don’t even think I will be able to get her any balloons this year , except maybe 1. We can’t afford to go out, so we are just having her birthday at my parents house. I don’t have any money to buy any games really either, so pretty much all we are going to do is eat finger foods , sing happy birthday and eat cake , and then have her open her presents. I got her those 3 presents and my parents are getting her 1 present, but nobody else has money to get her anything. I am making some punch, a 7 layer bean dip and chips, veggies, and I want one more thing for finger foods but I only have like $11 dollars to spend. I was thinking of making mini sandwiches but I looked at the store and that would add up to more than $11 for the amount I’d need. Do you have any ideas of something good that everyone might like , that would be $ 11 or less? Please give me some ideas. I have icecream and cake too, I ordered a round chochlate cake with banana filling , which has a princess theme on it. What is something else I can buy for $11 and it has to be something I can get at the store because I’m using a gift card that I bought for the store? I just feel so sad and I feel like I’m not giving her the birthday she deserves. I wish I could do something fun for her , but I don’t have the money. Do you think I am not doing enough for her? What did you do for your child’s 2nd birthday? I just feel so lousy. =(

My friend, the more I read the more I realized that you are doing plenty. You started off by saying, I cannot do much, then you had a list of things you bought her. Then we cannot do anything else, and then you listed more things and more food you were going to have. I don’t even remember what we did our children’s 2nd birthday parties, they are older now, but I can tell you are perfectly ok. I cannot understand those parents that think they have to rent a bouncer, a pony, a magician or a clown, to make the child think that they are special. I would love a birthday party with finger food and family. you are going fine. What you are doing is fine, because birthday’s come once a year, and if you do something more elaborate now, they will expect even more when they get older.

Wow, that seems to be a lot for a two year old birthday party.

Based from the pictures I have with me, my parents just gave me a simple private celebration with a round cake with "Happy B-Day Cairo", spaghetti and fried chicken. I also had a toy car, which I preserve ’till present.

Honestly, for my sons 2nd birthday we literally just had tea and cake and his granparents and a couple of others over.
Your little girl’s party sounds like it’s gonna be great fun and you totally spoiled her with three presents!! Why not put 1 of them away for xmas?
It sounds like you have more than enough food, why not buy a disposable camera with the $11?? Or just keep it, you really have done more than most for a toddlers birthday.
Just relax and enjoy yourself.
